Yuck! The final boss is an ogre that inhabits an abandoned tower near the village. Some shady guy in the nearest liquor store owned by Santa. Mali, a sorceress, gives the two main characters (Erik and Zach) the directions to the Forbidden Forest. The title screen of the tutorial game demo. All the assets used are from the game engine itself, including the tilesets and the graphics. So! Here are some screenshots from the RPG maker VX Ace that I used.
RPG MAKER VX ACE TUTORIAL HOW TO
How to get a Non-Blurry Full Screen for RPG. A nice tutorial on pixel art for everyone who’s new to it.
RPG MAKER VX ACE TUTORIAL FREE
A masterpost of free graphics for all versions of RPG Maker. A Yume Nikki inspired Sprite Base for VX Ace (super cute) Animating various objets using charasets. To be specific, I learned how to create maps, add in basic events (transfers, starting positions, doors, chests, etc), create a little bit of complex events (conditionals and transactions), adjust the enemy database and the game elements (items, weapons, stats, skills), and finally, add in cut-scenes and switches. VX Ace templates, & a guide to VX Ace tilesets. It’s still as basic and not as appealing as I would like to have in a game that I am playing, but the purpose of this activity is to learn how to use the game engine. So I only tried to stick to the guide as much as possible, with the exception of the maps and decorations. It’s a comprehensive guide that’s helpful for hobbyist that have never used any RPG maker engines at all. It’s an introductory tutorial that guides you in designing your very first game. So recently, I finally finished an RPGmaker VX beginner’s guide made by Ben Ko that I found years ago. Along the way, she vows to find out the mystery behind her powers, and she apparently has a lot of enemies who are trying to rid of the world. As it turns out, Rhen had the power to wield magic using a medium such as a stick or a sword, and because of her talents she was admitted to Shadwood Academy, a school for gifted kids like Rhen. Rhen was treated poorly by her master, and was bullied by her master’s son. In Aveyond 1, Rhen was just a normal villager who was mistaken to be an impotant priestess and was abducted by slave traders. This game is very dear to me as it was one of the games that I played that featured a female hero, Rhen, and her story was so inspiring and empowering.

It was one of the games that I used to play over and over: Aveyond. I only realized later on as I started looking into game designing using RPG maker engines that I used to play something that’s made with the same exact engine as I played with. I played games similar to Ib like Mad Father, Misao, Witch’s House, and Corpse Party.

Needless to say, I got hooked into the horror jRPG scene. As an aside: RPG Maker MV uses JavaScript, which might be a more recognizable language, and I assume the game structure similar. If you’ve ever written Python, like me, it’s easy to pick up (when you get stuck, just Google to see what the difference is).
RPG MAKER VX ACE TUTORIAL SERIES
While I may be done teaching RPG Maker, there will be more tutorial series in the future.Around the time when I was a sophomore in high school, my friend introduced to me a classic japanese role-playing game (jRPG): Ib. RPG Maker VX Ace uses Ruby for its scripting language. If it wasn't for this little corner of the net, I doubt I would of ever finished this series. At the time, I was suffering from some pretty bad depression (still am for the most part, but its better than it was :D) and having something I worked hard on actually in front of the eyes of so many, really kept me going. However, you guys embraced it, and the reception that it received really meant a lot to me. I remember when I posted the first episode here back in August of 2015, I didn't think it would do super well. I just wanted to extend my sincerest thanks to this community here on the RPG Maker subreddit. After 2 years, I have finally posted the final episode of my tutorial series for RPG Maker (final episode here: )
